HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Harrisburg City Islanders are thrilled to announce the club has re-signed veteran midfielder, Jason Pelletier. The local product will return for his seventh season in the blue and white. Pelletier once again proved to be a staple on the pitch for the Islanders last season, and adds valuable leadership skills to the locker room.
The 5-foot-to, 180-pound midfielder had a highly productive 2013 season for the Isles. During the 2013 season, Pelletier appeared in 22 matches, tallying 1,831 minutes on the pitch. Pelletier also dished-out three assists during the 2013 season. Pelletier stepped into the role of team captain after Bixler's injury half-way through the season. The previous two seasons have also moved Pelletier into the Islander's All-Time Leaderboards in multiple categories including: games played, minutes played, assist, shots, and fouls.
"Jason will be back for his seventh season with us, he brings a lot of experience to the team. We will be counting on him to be a leader again this season," said Head Coach Bill Becher.
Pelletier is a product of local Middletown High School, where he played with former Islander Geoff Bloes and won a Class AAA state championship in 2001. Pelletier played collegiately for Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. He was a staple in the central midfield for the Colonials, earning All-NEC selections in 2005 and 2006. He was also a Regional and National Olympic Development Program participant.
