Monday, March 17, 2014

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced on Monday that the club's Major League Soccer affiliate Toronto FC has assigned goalkeeper Quillan Roberts, along with midfielders Daniel Lovitz and Manny Aparicio, on loan for the 2014 USL PRO regular season.

“We feel this will be of great benefit for Quillan, Daniel, and Manny and it will allow them to earn valuable match experience in a professional environment,” said Toronto General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Throughout the course of the season our coaches will make trips to Wilmington to observe our players. We had very productive meetings during preseason with Jason Arnold (general manager) and David Irving (head coach) and really feel comfortable about the environment our players will be developing in.”

Quillan Roberts, 19, originally signed with Toronto FC on April 10, 2012. Roberts was the seventh player in club history to graduate from the Academy to the first team. He has yet to make a competitive match appearance for Toronto FC.

Manny Aparicio, 18, originally signed with Toronto FC on August 8, 2013. He became the eighth player in club history to sign for the first team from the Academy. Aparicio has yet to make a competitive match appearance for Toronto FC.

Daniel Lovitz, 22, was selected by Toronto FC in the second round, 24th overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. Prior to being drafted, Lovitz spent four seasons at Elon University, making 80 appearances. He recorded nine goals and added 16 assists during his career with the Phoenix.

“We are excited to continue further into our affiliation relationship with Toronto FC and to have players in Wilmington,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC General Manager Jason Arnold. “This is a great opportunity for player development as well as the continuation on and off the field between Toronto and Wilmington.”

Wilmington Hammerheads FC will kick off their regular season on Saturday, April 5 at Legion Stadium versus the Harrisburg City Islanders.
