Fresno Fuego News Release -- www.fresnofuego.com

Thursday, July 28, 2011

FRESNO, Calif. – As owners of the best record in the Western Conference of the Premier Development League, the Fresno Fuego will host the semifinals and finals of the Western Conference Championship this Saturday and Sunday at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno. Fans can pick up free tickets to both games at Univision Radio or through the Fuego’s own Facebook page.

The Fuego finished an undefeated regular season at 13-0-3 as champions of the Southwest Division, and will take on the No.2 seed from the Northwest Division, the Victoria Highlanders (9-4-3) from Victoria, British Columbia, at 12:30 p.m. In the first semifinal, the No.2 seed from the Southwest, the 2009 PDL Champion Ventura County Fusion (10-0-6) will face the Northwest Division top-seed Kitsap Pumas (12-1-3) at 10 a.m. The winners from those two games will go on to play the final on Sunday at noon.

Led by team captain and league MVP candidate Milton Blanco, who leads the league with both his 38 points and 14 assists, the Fuego have completed the first undefeated regular season campaign in team history. The squad owns a 24-game unbeaten streak dating back through the final eight games of the 2010 season. If the Fuego should win both games, they will advance to the 2011 Premier Development League National Championship, presented by Umbro. The Fuego would likely host that event as well, as they hold the top record in all of the 64-team PDL entering postseason play.

For tickets and information, call Univision Radio at 559-430-8500, or become a fan of the Fuego on Facebook.
