PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds return to Chartiers Valley Stadium this Saturday to match-up against the Richmond Kickers. Both clubs are battling to solidify their position in the USL PRO playoff race and earn a ticket into the postseason.
The Riverhounds and Kickers have played each other twice thus far in 2011, once in League play and once in the U.S. Open Cup. The Kickers have been victorious in both contests by handing the Riverhounds their first loss of the season and eliminating them from the Open Cup.
With less than a month remaining in the regular season, each game has an impact on where the teams will be seeded heading into the playoffs. Currently, the Riverhounds are five points ahead of F.C. New York for fourth place in the National Division, while the Kickers are tied with Wilmington for second place in the American Division. The top four teams in each division will advance into the postseason and will have the opportunity to compete for the USL PRO Championship.
This Saturday’s game between the two clubs will be an extremely intense environment out on the field, filled with physical challenges and multiple one-on-one battles. The team that can play together a full 90 minutes should prevail as winners.
The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Chartiers Valley Stadium. Tickets can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds Office, or at the ticket booths on game day.
