QUEENS, N.Y. -- F.C. New York will welcome the Charlotte Eagles for the USL PRO expansion side's first Independence Day game at Belson Stadium this afternoon with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.

New York took a 2-0 victory against Antigua Barracuda FC on Friday night in the USL PRO Game of the Week on FOX Soccer thanks to a pair of goals by Colombian striker Jhonny Arteaga. The 24-year-old now has seven goals in all competitions this season, leading the team.

The Eagles are coached by USL Hall of Famer Mark Steffans, who is from New York, and are expected to perform well as their coach returns home. Charlotte saw its seven-game undefeated streak ended on Saturday night by the Harrisburg City Islanders, and needs a victory today in order to stay in touch in the American Division playoff race.

New York will also be hoping to continue its undefeated streak to maintain its cushion over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, who are hot in pursuit of the fourth and final playoff place in the National Division that New York currently holds. The Riverhounds took a 2-0 victory against Antigua on Sunday afternoon to move within a point of New York in the standings.

Monday's match will start at 3 p.m. to allow fans to enjoy the game and have time to enjoy dinner in one of the 24,000 resturants in New York City before taking in the famous Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks. Join us today with tickets priced as low as $5.

Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks

Beginning at approximately 9 p.m., Macy's will have fireworks being released from six barges in the Hudson River. This year's theme is The Gift of Freedom marking the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, as well as the 235th birthday of the United States. The music will be performed in sync with the fireworks and can be heard on 1010 WINS. If you're not in the area, NBC will broadcast the fireworks live beginning at 9 p.m.
