CLINTON, Miss. -- Two of the perennial top teams in the Southeast Division of the Premier Development League are set to tangle on Saturday night when Mississippi Brilla FC hosts Orlando City U23. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Clinton High School's Arrow Field.
"We are four games into the season, and I think we are starting to come together as a team," said first year Brilla Head Coach Drew Courtney. "The season is a sprint, so every game is extremely important."
The Brilla (3-1) are coming off a dramatic comeback victory against VSI Tampa Bay FC at home last Sunday, while Orlando (2-2-1) is fresh off a 5-0 thumping of the SW Florida Adrenaline.
"Some of our most exciting games each year are against Orlando City U23's," said President Rusty Bryant. "They are one of the top organizations in our league, and we always look forward to hosting them."
With only three points separating the top five teams in the Southeast, the eight-team division is shaping up to be a close race. Mississippi and Ocala currently sit atop the standings with nine points, while Orlando City U23's and VSI Tampa are just behind with 7 points.
Tickets for Saturday's match in Clinton may be purchased at the gate for $5. Saturday's contest is sponsored by CMMC (Central Mississippi Medical Center) and early arrivals will receive promotional giveaways.
