Tuesday, June 4, 2013
TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues released the U12 age group qualification allotments today for the 2013 Super Y-League North American Finals, presented by Nike. Once again a total of 12 boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams from the Mid Atlantic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Midwest and Southeast divisions will meet at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, from December 5-9 to compete for the Super Y-League championship.
On the boys side, the Alpharetta Ambush (Georgia) fell just short of capturing the Super Y-League title in 2012, and the club is back in 2013 with a team set to compete for the lone South Atlantic bid. Orlando City SC (Florida) and Match Fit Academy (New Jersey) reached the semifinals in Bradenton in 2012, and both will have teams competing for spots from the Southeast Division and North Atlantic Division, respectively.
Three of the U12 Girls divisions will receive two bids each for the finals and two divisions will receive one spot, as a total of eight teams will participate at IMG Academy. FC America (Florida), which captured the 2012 title with a 2-0 win against the Kalamazoo Kingdom (Michigan), will be back looking to earn the lone Southeast Division finals bid.
IMG Academy, a division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, is the world’s largest and most advanced multi-sport training and education complex. IMG Academy hosted a myriad of soccer team training camps in 2012, including clubs such as the Seattle Sounders, D.C.
