FULLERTON, Calif. — The LA Blues head into their second week of USL PRO action taking on expansion team, VSI Tampa Bay FC. The Blues look to win their second game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. PT at Sherbeck Field.
The Blues opened their 2013 USL PRO campaign with a 2-0 win against Phoenix FC on March 23 at Titan Stadium. Forward George Davis IV scored the first USL PRO goal of the season in the 25th minute to give the Blues the lead before former MLS player Chris Cortez scored his first goal of the season in the 49th minute.
After falling 1-0 to Phoenix FC in the first game in franchise history on the road on Saturday, VSI Tampa Bay FC is looking for its first win of the season. The Blues defense will look to shut down Tampa Bay forward Andriy Budnyy and midfielder J.T. Noone, while Blues forwards Davis and Cortez will try to break down the Tampa Bay defense led by former Charlotte Eagles center back Josh Rife and Wilmington Hammerheads goalkeeper Alex Horwath.
The Blues will also hope to see strong performances from the midfield duo of Rodrigo Lopez and Allan Russell, who both had positive games in the season-opening win against Phoenix.
This is the first of two meetings between the LA Blues and VSI Tampa Bay FC this season. The Blues will visit Tampa Bay on Sunday, April 21 for the return fixture. Tuesday's game can be seen on USLNation.com, for tickets visit www.labluesprosoccer.com.
