BRANDON, Fla. -- After the recent merger between the Brandon Flames FC and West Florida Premier soccer clubs to create VSI West Florida Flames, and the association with VSI that has teams set to compete in the USL PDL, W-League and the Super-20 League, the new era in the club's history is now set to begin as the VSI Tampa Flames PDL team opens its 2012 season on Sunday, May 6 at the JC Handly Sports Complex at 6 p.m. The Flames will take on the Ocala Stampede in what will be an inaugural game for both sides.
The club's new association with VSI enables all of its players the opportunity to progress their soccer careers with the Flames all the way through to senior soccer, which in 2013 will also include the VSI Tampa Flames professional side that will compete in USL PRO.
Sunday's match will be sponsored by McDonald’s and the first 250 fans will receive free admission courtesy of McDonald’s. As part of the festivities, children will have the opportunity to enjoy the fun zone with numerous inflatables, a face painter on site, and other activities for the kids to enjoy.
At 5:30 p.m., key members of the community will join the team on the pitch for a ribbon cutting welcoming them to the Brandon Community and the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
