BOSTON -- The Boston Victory Soccer Club have completed the signing of former New England Revolution and Providence College midfielder Andrew Sousa as Coach Sergio Taborda continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the club's inaugural 2012 PDL season.

"I think it is a great opportunity for me to represent a club in our area," said Sousa. "I have always been a local type of guy involved in my community and for me to play for a team in Boston with a lot of passionate supporters and members who run the team.

"My first impression of Boston Victory took me by surprise. I didn't expect a team to have so many passionate members already getting a lot of things going forward for the club."

Sousa was selected by the Revolution in the third round (42nd overall) of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft and played in eight games in the MLS Reserve League, scoring two goals. The Fall River, Mass., native started one game for New England in the U.S. Open Cup against Sporting Kansas City.

"Andrew is a very talented player who will bring experience and some extra quality to our midfield," said Taborda. "It is important to us that we have signed a local player who grew up and learned to play soccer in Massachusetts. I am sure he will quickly become a favorite among our fans this season."

Having played his freshman year at Limestone College, Sousa moved to Providence College and finished his career with eight goals and seven assists in 67 appearances for the Friars, including four goals as a senior. The 22-year-old is a product of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Bayside United F.C., Blackwatch R.I. and the Nor'easters club teams.
