Rochester Rhinos News Release – www.rhinossoccer.com

Saturday, March 19, 2011

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After beginning the preseason with a scoreless draw on Thursday night, the Rochester Rhinos emerged victorious for the first time on Saturday as goals by Nick Blanco and recent signing Tony Donatelli earned the Rhinos a 2-1 win against York (Ontario) University.

Midfielder Nick Blanco tallied the club’s first goal in exhibition play in the opening minutes of the match to put Rochester up 1-0. Blanco made a nice run, putting himself into position for his first goal of the preseason.

Rochester’s Andrew Hoxie nearly made it 2-0 a short time later when he broke free inside the six-yard box but couldn’t slide his shot in the short side.

York tied the match just before halftime when Rochester goalkeeper Ryan Kenny tipped a shot off the crossbar before Branko Majstorovic followed up on to level the score.

Blanco and Donatelli teamed up in the 53rd minute on a give-and-go only to see Donatelli shoot into the side of the net.

Donatelli would get another chance later on however as a free kick awarded just outside York’s penalty area would lead to a free kick in the 89th minute. This time the 26-year old connected, blistering a shot high past a diving goalkeeper to give the Rhinos their first win.

Rochester will take its 1-0-1 preseason mark to Cortland on Saturday, March 26 when the Rhinos take on St. Bonaventure University.

Richmond Kickers News Release – www.richmondkickers.com

Saturday, March 19, 2011

RICHMOND, Va. –The Richmond Kickers defeated the Old Dominion University Monarchs 4-1 on a beautiful, spring-like Saturday at the Kickers state-of-the-art training facility, Ukrop Park. Newcomer Shaka Bangura opened the scoring for the Kickers in the first minute of play, but Monarchs forward Yannick Smith notched the equalizer before the end of the half. Kickers midfielder David Bulow added a pair of second half tallies and defender William Yomby rounded out the scoring.

After joining the Kickers preseason training last Friday, Bangura’s first touch for his new club resulted in a goal. A long throw-in 30 seconds into the match found an open Matthew Delicate, who immediately flicked it on to Edson Elcock in the center of the field. Elcock played a through-ball behind the defense to Bangura, releasing him one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The former Puerto Rico Islanders midfielder calmly slotted the ball into the left corner.

The Monarchs leveled the score before the end of the half when a mistake in the midfield gave Old Dominion the advantage in dangerous territory. An open Smith collected the ball and struck from the right side of the box to the far post to put the Monarchs back in the game.

The home side rallied in the second half with a flurry of goals, starting in the 54th minute. Defender Sascha Görres fired a cross from the left side to a well-positioned Bulow inside the box. The ODU goalkeeper was able to get a hand on the resulting header, pushing it against the post, but the rebound fell back to Bulow for an easy tap-in.

Ten minutes later, midfielder Ross Mackenzie hurled an outswinging corner into the mix, finding Yomby six yards from the target. The big, Cameroonian defender won the ball in the air and sent a glancing header to the far post to put the Kickers up 3-1.

Bulow struck again before the final whistle after a full-out attack inside the penalty area found him in scoring position once again. Elcock delivered a cross from the right side that was cleared short to the top of the box. An onrushing Bobby Foglesong attempted a shot, but the ball was deflected as Foglesong collided with the goalkeeper. As the pair scrambled for the loose ball, Bulow effortlessly tapped it over the goal line.

The Kickers continue preseason training with an intense lineup of closed door scrimmages including matches against Virginia Commonwealth University, James Madison University, the University of Richmond and Carolina RailHawks. The 2011 USL PRO regular season commences in just two weeks, when the Kickers play host to Orlando City on Saturday, April 2 at City Stadium.

Orlando City News Release -- www.orlandocitysoccer.com

Sunday, March 20, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City started off strong and finished even stronger as they dominated the University of Central Florida 5-1 at the UCF Soccer and Track complex on Sunday afternoon.

Max Griffin got the Lions going early, jumping on a deflected Luke Boden shot and slamming the ball home before the UCF defense had a chance to react. City looked to have a rout going early on, but either could not find the final pass or could not keep their shots below the crossbar.

UCF took advantage of City's lack of finishing on a counter-attack, with a cross finding an open UCF player in the box for the equalizer, deflecting in off the underside of the crossbar. At the halftime whistle, the match was still knotted at 1-1.

The second half started much the same as the first with plenty of Orlando City chances going high and wide. The game turned when Orlando City's Yordany Alvarez was shown a staight red card for sliding challenge and City played down a man for the remainder of the match, but the card appeared to refocus the Lions. City's attacks had more pace, and finally paid off when Griffin made a run through the penalty area looking to find a shot. He was brought down near the penalty spot, giving the Lions the chance they were looking for, and Devorn Jorsling converted the penalty to put the Lions up 2-1.

With the lead in hand, City began to push harder, taking advantage of the tired UCF legs. Dennis Chin, subbed on for Jorsling after the second goal, opened his City account after a Griffin run and low cross to put the Lions up 3-1. Shortly after Lewis Neal duplicated Chin's combination play with Griffin to make the lead 4-1. City continued to press, with Neal finding space at the top of the box for a curling  strike that hit the far post, but bounced in for Neal's second of the match and fifth this preseason.

In all, City went from a 1-1 draw and being down a man to being up 5-1 in the span of 15 minutes. The stunning offensive display puts the Lions at 4-2 for the preseason. They travel to Deland for a match against the Stetson Hatters on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds News Release -- www.riverhounds.com

Sunday, March 20, 2011

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds got a late goal from Jeremy Deighton to earn a 1-0 victory against the University of Pittsburgh in the club’s second preseason match at the state-of-the-art Peterson Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon.

Deighton’s goal came in the 77th minute after Riverhounds trialist Neil Schaffer traveled into a free space and penetrated the Panthers’ defense. After committing a Panthers’ defender, Schaffer slotted a pass to a slashing Deighton at the top of the penalty area. Deighton collected Schaffer’s pass with composure and confidently finished past the approaching Panthers goalkeeper.

The match began at a frantic pace as the Riverhounds and Panthers were looking to gain early control of the play. The majority of the first half was held within the middle third as both lines of defense were quick to stifle the opposition’s attack and clear the ball away from danger. The Riverhounds were focused on building a solid attack, while the Panthers were looking to play direct.

Neither the Riverhounds nor the Panthers gained the upper hand in the first half, but each side had opportunities to break the stalemate. In the 18th minute the Riverhounds gained an advantage with a smooth combination through the midfield between Matt Tuttle and rookie Ben Horner. Following the combo, Tuttle found Tommy Gray down the right flank by playing a diagonal ball behind the Panthers’ defense. Gray collected the ball in stride and delivered a bending cross for an onrushing Chad Severs, but saw his service headed out for a corner. The Panthers first half opportunity came off a counter-attack two minutes later, but was quickly smothered by the Hounds’ tracking defenders.

The second half opened with a calm Riverhounds side and a high-paced Panthers side. The Panthers earned the first quality scoring opportunity in the 56th minute off a left-to-right counter. A breakdown in the midfield allowed for the Panthers to get behind the Riverhounds’ left side and serve a cross to the back post. The Panthers’ forward’s first touch was poor, however, and allowed trialist goalkeeper Greg Blum to make a confident diving save.

During the last thirty minutes of regulation, the play began to open up for the Riverhounds as a result of the Panthers direct style of play. Outside midfielders Tuttle and Gray found themselves isolated multiple times down the flanks allowing them to serve dangerous balls into the penalty area. Unfortunately for the Hounds, Tuttle and Gray’s services did not connect with any of their teammates.

The Riverhounds did get the goal they were looking for through Deighton, though, as his strike proved the difference.

The Riverhounds continue their preseason schedule on Tuesday, March 22nd against the Robert Morris Colonials. The match is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff at Joe Walton Stadium.

USL News Release

Monday, March 21, 2011

TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues is pleased to announce that it has expanded its relationship with Umbro, its longest-serving and most prominent corporate partner, beginning with the 2011 season.

Since the mid 1990s, Umbro has been deeply involved with USL as both its official sponsor and formerly, as a majority shareholder. When NuRock Soccer Holdings acquired USL from Umbro’s parent company, Nike, in August of 2009, a new long-term partnership was forged between Umbro and USL.

“With the expansion of our partnership agreement, Umbro has made a definitive statement that USL is a platform from which they can increase the profile of their brand in North America.” USL CEO Alec Papadakis said. “Our organizations have enjoyed a very meaningful association for nearly the past two decades, and this announcement ensures that the relationship will feature Umbro’s active involvement with USL and all of its leagues and properties through at least 2018. We are excited to be able to utilize the support provided by Umbro to directly benefit our teams, leagues and the USL brand, and believe that this further solidifies USL’s place as the leading system of elite developmental soccer leagues on the continent.“

Both Umbro and USL have spent the past several months working to identify initiatives that will help increase Umbro’s participation with USL, accelerate Umbro’s growth in North America, and support the overall objectives of USL teams. Among the highlights of the strengthened partnership are:

• Umbro will serve as the “Presenting Sponsor” for at least all USL League Championships with teams vying for the Umbro Cup (Playoff Championship Trophy)
• Umbro will provide a comprehensive team kit package to all USL PRO members
• Umbro will provide a sponsorship package for the PDL and W-League Championship events to enhance the professionalism of the event and offset travel related costs for participating teams.

“Not only do we continue to enjoy our longstanding relationship with United Soccer Leagues, we feel energized about the vision and direction USL’s ownership has for the game throughout North America and the Caribbean,” said Richard Nightingale, General Manager of Umbro North America. “We’re looking forward to amplifying our existing involvement with USL PRO and investing additional resources that will benefit and enhance the experience of all teams playing in the United Soccer Leagues.”

Umbro, one of the world’s leading international brands of soccer uniforms, footwear, equipment and soccer-related apparel, is a proud sponsor and the official equipment supplier of United Soccer Leagues.

Founded in 1924, Umbro has built, through the years, a strong reputation as supplier to the world’s best soccer teams and the leading grass roots sponsor of the game in the United States. Umbro’s double diamond logo is recognized on all seven continents, in the sport’s largest arenas, which are home to the world’s greatest soccer teams.

Orlando City News Release -- www.orlandocitysoccer.com

Monday, March 21, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando City Soccer Club is proud to announce the signing of English Championship veteran midfielder Lewis Neal to a multi-year contract, pending USSF approval.

“Today’s a great day,” said Neal. “We’ve had a good preseason playing the MLS teams. We’ve put in a good showing, and now I’m looking forward to getting the season started.”

Neal began his career with Stoke City in 2000, then in the English Championship. After five seasons with Stoke, Neal moved to Preston North End, also of the English Championship. In 2009, Neal moved to Carlisle United before signing with Shrewsbury Town. In all, Neal has made over 150 appearances in England, scoring 17 goals.

“I’m delighted that we’ve signed him,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “It is very unusual to get a player of his talent, age, and experience to come to our level. He’ll be a huge influence on the club not only on the field, but off the field as well. He’s a great professional – he’s been there, seen it, and done it. There players will be very pleased that he’s signed as well. The fans have already taken to him as well. It’s a fantastic signing all around.”

Neal has been Orlando City’s most explosive player this preseason, playing in every match. He scored the club’s first ever goal on a bending free kick against the Philadelphia Union. He leads the team with five goals in six matches, including two in the span of five minutes against UCF on Sunday.

DAYTON DUTCH LIONS

Coach: Ivar van Dinteren
2010 Season: Third, Great Lakes Division, USL Premier Development League

The Lowdown – The Dutch Lions make the jump from the USL Premier Development League into the professional ranks aiming to build on the success the club found last year. A first-year PDL team, Dayton missed out on a place in the PDL playoffs by six points a season ago and reached the first round of the U.S. Open Cup through PDL qualifying before falling 2-0 to new National Division rival the Rochester Rhinos.

The club has now added an experienced staff to lead it in its first professional season, including Technical Director Cor van Hoeven, a former assistant coach with Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam and Finnish First Division team Jokerit. The partnership with Eredivisie club FC Twente will also be invaluable as the club continues to grow.

Key Returnees – While the team is making the move into the professional ranks and building a squad accordingly, a few members of the club’s PDL team are making the move up as well. Included in these are Julius Wille, who developed in the FC Twente youth system, and Brett Jones, who played for the Cincinnati Kings when they were part of USL-2 and also the Columbus Crew reserves.

Key Additions – While the squad is still in the process of being built, there are already some interesting players who will join the squad this season. 2010 PDL Defender of the Year Joe Tait makes the move into the professional ranks after an outstanding season for the Baton Rouge Capitals last year, and he should be joined in the Dutch Lions’ defense by Bahamian international Happy Hall.

The Coach’s Opinion – “The goal is to play attractive soccer which is different than the American way of playing. Besides that we would like to interest the community with our technical and tactical style, with good results, of course.” – Coach Ivar van Dinteren

If it all goes to plan – The Dutch Lions might not contend for the division title immediately, but don’t rule the possibility of the team making the playoffs in its first season. While it will face a strong test from established clubs such as the Rochester Rhinos, Harrisburg City Islanders and Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Dayton could spring a few surprises as the season develops.

Fifth Third Field To Host Dutch Lions

Dayton Dutch Lions News Release -- www.dutchlionsfc.com

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Dragons and Dayton Dutch Lions jointly announced today that the first professional soccer event ever held at Fifth Third Field will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2011 when the Dutch Lions host the Charlotte Eagles in an official USL PRO regular season match.

The playing surface at Fifth Third Field will be aligned to accommodate the dimensions of a soccer field. The Fifth Third Field seating bowl, the club level, and stadium luxury suites will also be used similarly to Dragons' baseball games. Concessions stands and suite level catering will be available as usual.

The event marks the continuation in the effort by the Dragons to bring events to downtown Dayton. Last fall, the Dragons hosted amateur boxing featuring Olympic hopefuls at Fifth Third Field. In past seasons, the Dragons have hosted concerts with major acts like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Bryan Adams and many others. The Dragons have hosted two Major League exhibition games featuring the Cincinnati Reds and the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championships. Additionally, each spring, the Dragons host more than 20 high school baseball games.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the Dayton Dutch Lions to bring the first-ever professional soccer games to Fifth Third Field,” Dragons President Robert Murphy said. “Fifth Third Field has proven to be a great venue, not only for the Dragons and the high school baseball games we have hosted, but for other great events as well such as concerts, boxing, and now professional soccer.”

“Partnering with the Dragons to play a doubleheader on May 28 at Fifth Third Field is fantastic for several reasons,” said Mike Mossel, Dutch Lions Co-Owner and President. “First, both of our organizations are focused on providing a high-quality sports and entertainment product for the Dayton community. Second, they are also in the business of developing players for the top level. Third, we can learn from them since they have already experienced the things we encounter in our early stages of trying to build a top professional organization with eventually a European-style soccer-specific stadium in Dayton.

"Being able to tie this together in an event where we combine our marketing efforts to attract as many people as we can to see both our Men’s Pro Team as well as the newly added Women’s Team in their home debut at Fifth Third Field on one night is great. I hope we can make this an annual event.”

Lions Win Thriller Against Stetson

Orlando City News Release -- www.orlandocitysoccer.com

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

DELAND, Fla. -- Orlando City extended its preseason winning streak to three by defeating Stetson University 5-3 on Tuesday night. City is now 5-2 for the preseason.

Ian Fuller got the Lions scoring started just six minutes into the match. With the ball near the top of the box, Fuller made a run to the left post. Dennis Chin stepped up for the give-and-go, but performed a feint, fooling the Stetson defense. Fuller continued his run into now-open space, and slotted a shot past the stunned keeper.

City continued their early domination when Devorn Jorsling took a pass from Yordany Alvarez and performed his trademark cut-back, faking left, freezing, and the putting the ball on his right foot for a quick strike and a 2-0 lead.  Stetson hit back quickly, though, taking advantage of the ambitious City defenders and slotting home a breakaway opportunity to halve the deficit.

The scoring continued when Dennis Chin held the ball up in the penalty area. He released Alvarez for a surprise shot from the top of the box and a 3-1 lead. But again the Hatters responded quickly, taking advantage when Ian Fuller miss-hit a pass, springing a Stetson attacker into a 1-on-1 with keeper Sean Kelley. Kelley dove for the shot, but the ball went underneath him to bring the deficit back to one. The half ended at 3-2.

The second half started slow for both teams. The effects of fatigue were becoming evident as City was playing its second match in three days. The match received a spark when Max Griffin got on the end of a Mechack Jerome cross. His header appeared be a flick-on pass, but the initial cross had enough speed that Griffin’s quick redirect was all that was needed to give City back its two-goal lead.

In the 68th minute, Stetson made another counter-attack, leading to a breakaway. Miguel Gallardo came off his line to cut off the shot angle, but mistimed his dive and took out the Stetson attacker. A penalty was given, as was a yellow card to Gallardo. Stetson converted, bringing the score to 4-3.

Not content with a one-goal victory, the Lions pressed on. Jamie Watson, seeing his first action since dislocating his shoulder against Toronto FC last month, took a pass from Lewis Neal and coolly slotted home City’s fifth goal of the match, equaling their output from their last preseason outing against the University of Central Florida. Watson concluded his celebration by dancing with supporters who were standing behind the Stetson goal.

Heath’s squad continued to push on for another goal, and nearly got it. Both Jack Traynor and Max Griffin hit shots from long range that missed the woodwork by mere inches. The final City chance came when Watson made a run into the penalty area, only to be pulled down by his defender during the shot attempt. The shot was saved, and no penalty was given. The final whistle blew before Watson could make any substantial argument to the center official.

After the match, Head Coach Adrian Heath praised Stetson for their ability to keep the game close.

“I think they did well tonight, Stetson," Heath said. "I always thought we would win the game, and we were a little bit wasteful of the chances we had, but Stetson was very dangerous on their counter-attack. There were one or two players who were very good.”

Heath also acknowledged the team is dealing with a bit of fatigue due to playing two matches in three days, and its third in a week. Heath also spoke of the team getting players back from injury.

“(Watson) is coming back from his injury and looks like he’s got no further problems," Heath said. "I’m well pleased that he’s come through tonight. We were also happy to see Erik Ustruck return. He’d been out for a long time and was rusty, but overall it was a good night for the players coming back from injury.”

After a much deserved day off, City resumes the final phase of training camp on Thursday. They play their final preseason match on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Tampa at the University of South Florida.

F.C. NEW YORK

Coach: Matt Weston
2010 Season: N/A

The Lowdown – An expansion franchise, F.C. New York will almost certainly face a stern test in its first season in USL PRO. However, Weston is optimistic that the groundwork he has put in during the past nine months will pay off in results on the field.

“The past nine months have been a fantastic journey,” Weston told USLSoccer.com recently. “The challenge of putting together a roster from scratch is something which we as a club have relished as you are trying to find the pieces of a puzzle, ensuring you bring in the right quality and characters who are going to mesh quickly from individuals into a team.”

Weston said the club has scouted more than 250 players, leaning heavily on a network of college coaches that Weston has developed since being named F.C. New York’s Technical Director. Coaches from outside the U.S. have also assisted Weston, allowing him to add players such as Owen Morrison and Colin Roche from Ireland.

Key Additions – The club’s first captain will be Paul Shaw, and his experience and leadership will be crucial to a side that contains a lot of young talent. A graduate of the Arsenal Academy, Shaw went on to have a long and productive career in the English Championship, most prominently for Millwall where he scored 25 goals in a little more than 100 games.

Weston is also hopeful that his club will have some young leadership, pointing to the trio of Karsten Smith, Troy Cole and Josiah Snelgrove. Cole, who played in 29 games for AC St. Louis a season ago and before that played in the USL Premier Development League for the Atlanta Blackhawks, will likely be an important figure for his new club this season.

The Coach’s Opinion – “Doug Petersen, Jo-Ellen Treiber and I want this club to be a success long term and we are putting together the building blocks to help cement a bright future for FC New York. When I took the job my first thought was how quickly can we compete and do well in this highly competitive league. We have brought in players who we believe have the attitude, hunger and temperament to do well, and I have told them from day one, fight for each other and fight to earn the right to get a result on that field.” – Weston

If it all goes to plan – Life is always tough for expansion franchises, and with a strong group facing them in the National Division, F.C. New York will do well to buck that trend. However, Weston brings a great enthusiasm to the squad that could become contagious. If it does, some of their opponents might be in for some tougher nights than they’d think.

Richmond Kickers News Release -- www.richmondkickers.com

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the return of veteran defender Evan Harding along with the addition of newcomers Ryan Heins and Jamel Wallace to round out the 2011 roster, pending USL and USSF approval.

"With our move to USL PRO, it was imperative that we strengthened the squad,” said Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Head Coach and Director of Soccer. “We needed to add experienced players who could also deal with the physical nature of the league. Signing Evan, Ryan and Jamel so late in the process was an added bonus and we look forward to all three making a significant contribution to the team.”

Making 63 appearances with the Kickers over the past four years, Evan Harding returns for his fifth season in Richmond in 2011. The native of Charlotte, N.C. burst onto the professional scene in 2007 after signing with the Kickers out of the 2007 Pro Combine. In his rookie season, he earned USL-2 Team of the Week honors on four occasions and quickly made his way into the starting lineup.

A versatile player who saw time in the midfield and defense at UNC-Charlotte, Harding started 73 of 75 games played over four seasons. Responsible for 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points during his collegiate career, Harding became the fourth player in the four-year history of the team to earn NCCSIA All-State honors his senior year.

Richmond newcomer Ryan Heins adds firepower to the midfield and brings a wealth of professional playing experience to the 2011 squad. Originally from Medford, N.J., the 6-foot-1 midfielder was the first selection for the Philadelphia KiXX in the MISL’s expansion draft in 2007. Making his USL debut in 2008 with rival Harrisburg City Islanders, he led the team with seven goals and one assist in 17 appearances. He concluded the 2008 season on loan with the Rochester Rhinos, and went on to make 51 appearances with the USL First Division/USSF Division 2-Pro League side over two seasons.

A four-year starter at Temple University, Heins notched seven career goals and 11 assists and capped his collegiate career by earning All-Atlantic 10 Second Team honors his senior season.

Rookie defender Jamel Wallace bolsters the Kickers defensive unit after a one-year stint with the Kitsap Pumas of the USL Premier Development League. Drafted by the Seattle Sounders in the fourth round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Wallace concluded a standout career at San Diego State University in 2009. Making 69 appearances over four years, he notched seven career goals and one assist. Earning All-Pac-10 Honorable Mentions in 2007 and 2009, the San Diego, Calif. native was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team in 2008.

HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS

Coach: Bill Becher
2010 Season: Fifth place, USL-2

The Lowdown – The City Islanders are aiming to rebound from a disappointing 2010 season that saw them finish well off the playoff pace in USL-2. The highlight of the 2010 campaign was the club reaching the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup after upsetting the New York Red Bulls 1-0 in the third round.

Key Departures – The biggest loss for the City Islanders this offseason was the move of Sheanon Williams to the Philadelphia Union. After the conclusion of the USL-2 season last year, Williams joined the Union and did enough to earn himself a full place on the roster for this season.

Key Returnees – City Islanders captain Dustin Bixler returns for a seventh season with the club and will expect to maintain the standard of play that saw him named to the USL-2 All-League First Team for the past two seasons. Also returning are Jason Pelletier and Anthony Calvano, both All-League Second Team performers a season ago.

Key Newcomers – One of the major issues for the City Islanders last season was their defense, which was tied for the league-high in goals against with 30. In order to try and address that, Becher has added goalkeeper Chase Harrison and defender Andrew Marshall. Harrison was with the City Islanders in 2009, playing 16 games and recording eight shutouts, and after a season where he was always seemingly on the move he should bring some stability to Harrisburg’s back line.

The Coach’s Opinion – “Our goal as always is to win the Championship. The first goal this year is to get back to the playoffs.” – Bill Becher

If it all goes to plan – With three playoff berths available in the National Division, and two teams in its five-team division in Dayton and F.C. New York that will be in their first professional season, it would appear that Harrisburg should have a good chance to return to the playoffs this season. A lot will depend on how the side is able to play defensively, though, with both of the aforementioned clubs appearing ready to pounce if Harrisburg should falter.
