ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City is proud to announce the signing of forward Dennis Chin to an improved, extended contract, pending USSF approval. The new contract will keep Chin with Orlando City through the 2014 season.

The Rollins College alum earned his new contract through impressive performances throughout the championship-winning 2011 campaign. Chin was especially integral to Orlando City’s success during season’s final games and playoffs.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve been given,” said Chin. “I’m glad Adrian (Heath), Phil (Rawlins), Ian (Fuller) and all the staff have faith in me to hopefully provide something to this team. I want to make them proud and do what I need to do to be successful next season.”

Chin joined the club after a strong performance at Orlando City’s open tryouts. As the season progressed, he worked his way into a regular spot on the gameday roster. By the end of the season, Chin was an integral part of the Lions attack. In total, Chin made 15 appearances in all competitions, starting three times. Chin scored four goals in all competitions for City, once in the regular season, once in the U.S. Open Cup, and twice in the playoffs. Chin was also responsible for drawing the game-tying penalty in the USL PRO Championship Game.

“Dennis showed very well in the 2011 season,” said Director of Operations Alex Wolf. “This new deal is a reflection of that. The bar has been raised for Dennis, and we are looking forward to watching him develop into the attacking presence we know he can be.”

Chin and the Orlando City Lions kick off the 2012 campaign on February 18 at the Citrus Bowl with a friendly match against Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union. A week later, City will face more MLS and international competition in the third annual Disney Pro Soccer Classic.
