TAMPA, Fla. – Kickoff is approaching quickly for the 2011 Major Beach Soccer National Championships Presented by UMBRO, set for December 17-18 on scenic Clearwater Beach, Florida. Eight men’s teams and four women’s teams that qualified from a series of summer tournaments throughout the U.S. will compete to become the first MBS national champions.
All the action will take place next to Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach, with teams competing five-on-five in 36-minute games. Flicks and acrobatic bicycle kicks are the norm in beach soccer, where the fields and goals are small but the action is nonstop. The event is being made possible through the assistance of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission. Admission is free and spectators are welcome.
