BALTIMORE, Md. - The Missouri Comets snapped Baltimore's five-game winning streak with a 12-10 victory in front of 5,924 fans at 1st Mariner Arena Friday night. The Blast, led by Max Ferdinand's hat trick, led most of the game but Missouri's John Sosa scored the game-winner with 32 seconds remaining in the match. The Blast fall to 5-2 and will return to the field Saturday night to host the Syracuse Silver Knights; the Comets improve to 6-4.
Comets defender Ryan Junge scored the first goal of the game to give the Comets an early 2-0 lead before Ferdinand scored his first goal to tie the game at 2-2.
Ferdinand scored the only goal of the second quarter to put the Blast on top, 4-2, and added his third goal in the sixth minute of the third quarter. Rookie J.T. Noone scored early in the quarter and Machel Millwood scored on a penalty kick to extend Baltimore's lead to 10-2.
Geison Moura answered for the Comets less than a minute after Millwood's goal to cut the lead to 10-4.
The Comets owned the final quarter, scoring three unanswered goals to fight back to within one point then take a two-point lead. Lucas Rodriguez scored in the 10th minute then assisted Cristiano's three-point goal less than three minutes later to bring the Comets to within one point, 10-9. Sosa's game-winner came with just 32 seconds remaining.
