ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Midfielder Tyler Rosenlund will be returning to Rochester for his third season with the Rhinos in 2012.

“Signing Tyler was an important objective when I took the position because he is the engine in our midfield,” Rhinos Head Coach Jesse Myers said. “Tyler is a very good player with MLS and international experience.”

In 2011 Rosenlund played in and started 27 matches, logging 2,266 minutes in all competitions. He recorded three goals and added two assists for eight points. Rosenlund was selected as the Flanders Group Rochester Rhinos Most Valuable Player in recognition of his efforts. Rosenlund appeared in 28 matches for Rochester in 2010 and scored two goals in the regular season. He was the Rhinos’ leading scorer in the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with two goals.

Rosenlund was signed to a senior developmental contract by Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC in 2008. The Vancouver, British Columbia native appeared in eight matches and became the first Canadian player to score a goal for Toronto FC. Rosenlund made fifteen appearances with the U17 Canadian National Team and sixteen appearances with the U20 Canadian National Team. He made his only appearance with the full Canadian Men’s National Team in January 2008.

“We’re also in the final stages of bringing some new players into the team. We’re specifically making an effort to sure up our left flank. With the short week this week we might not end up finalizing all of the details, but we will have an announcement coming out shortly pending league approval,” Myers said.
