TAMPA, Fla. – For the second consecutive week LSU standout and former Vancouver Whitecap Taryne Boudreau earned the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week award. Boudreau scored both goals in the Tigers’ 2-1 win against Georgia this past weekend.
Fellow Canadian Mallory Outerbridge earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors for the second time this season as well. The 2011 W-League MVP and Ottawa Fury striker had a great weekend for Western Kentucky. Outerbridge scored the game winner in a 1-0 victory against Arkansas - Little Rock on Friday and the tying and winning goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win against Arkansas State on Sunday for the Hilltoppers.
Former Laval striker Nkem Ezurike took home Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring three goals in two matches this weekend. Elsewhere in the Big Ten, former Michigan Hawk Haley Kopmeyer recorded 16 saves and a clean sheet in victories against Iowa and Nebraska for Michigan, collecting the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
In the Big East, former Pali Blue Lauren Bohaboy earned Rookie of the Week honors after scoring three goals in matches against Connecticut and Providence for Notre Dame. Katie Ryan of the New Jersey Rangers was given the Offensive Player of the Week award for her three goals and three assists versus Pittsburgh and West Virginia this past weekend for Villanova. Lauren Ferris of St. John’s, formerly of the Long Island Rough Riders, was the Goalkeeper of the Week for her 18- save weekend which also featured a clean sheet and wins against Rutgers and Seton Hall.
Cynthia Jacobo was the backbone of the Santa Clarita Blue Heat in goal this past season and she has kept up her fine form this fall for Cal State Northridge. Jacobo was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week after recording 11 saves in wins against Pacific and UC Davis this past weekend.
Bourdreau, Ezurike and Ryan were also honored on Soccer America’s Women’s Team of the Week.
