TAMPA, Fla. - After pacing the breakout Santa Clarita Blue Heat to first place in the W-League’s Western Conference, Ann Marie Tangorra has kept up her scoring antics this fall. Tangorra scored a hat trick and added an assist this past weekend to power Cal State Fullerton to the UNM Nike Classic title. The Blue Heat striker notched three in a win against North Texas and added an assist against New Mexico. The result was the Big West Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week award.

It was a big week for W-Leaguers elsewhere in the country as well. Rochester’s Liesel Toth of Central Michigan earned the Mid-American Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week honors. Toth led the way against Wisconsin after scoring on a free kick and hitting another free kick which resulted in the game-winning goal.

New Jersey Ranger Taylor Wilson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors in the Big East after notching two goals and two assists in two matches last week for Seton Hall.

In the Big Ten, former West Michigan Firewoman and current Michigan State senior Laura Heyboer took home the Offensive Player of the Week award after amassing five goals on six shots in two matches this past weekend. Haley Kopmeyer was awarded Defensive Player of the Week after keeping her fourth clean sheet of the season. The former Michigan Hawk and current University of Michigan keeper has a 0.76 goals-against average this season.

Fellow goalkeeper and former Toronto Lady Lynx player Elise Kuhar-Pitters earned Defensive Player of the Week in Conference USA. Kuhar-Pitters has posted five clean sheets this season and led Memphis to an 8-0 start.

In the Pac-12 severalW-Leaguers were named honorable mentions for Player of the Week. Vancouver Whitecaps Julie Armstrong (Oregon) and Chelsea Buckland (Oregon State) rounded out the honorable mention field which also included Camille Levin of the Pali Blues (Stanford) and Seattle Sounder Sarah Martinez (Washington).

Tangorra, Toth, Buckland, Heyboer and Wilson all made the cut for Soccer America’s Team of the Week as well.
