CHESTER, Pa. -- Philadelphia Union today announced the signing of midfielder Morgan Langley from the club's USL PRO affiliate, the Harrisburg City Islanders. Langley, pictured playing against the Union in an exhibition last month, is the third player to follow the path from Harrisburg to PPL Park. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, the terms of the acquisition will not be disclosed.

Langley lifted the City Islanders to the 2011 USL PRO final, in which Harrisburg lost in a penalty shootout to the Orlando City Lions. During his first season on City Island, the midfielder appeared in 20 games, tallying his first two professional goals. The midfielder's last tally of the season helped the Islanders claim the season series against the Dayton Dutch Lions in stoppage time on July 27.

The 22-year old Hawaiian graduated from local Swarthmore College, where he led the school with 14 goals and 14 assists during his senior season, setting a program single-season record with 42 points. For his accomplishments, Langley was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year, finishing top 10 nationally in assists, assists per game, and points per game. Langley also received two All-American honors and was named to the NSCAA All-Region First Team, as well as the ECAC Division III South Region First Team.

With Langley leading the way, the Garnet men's soccer program won the 2010 Centennial Conference Championship, reached the second round of the NCAA Championships, and achieved the first D-III No. 1 national ranking in program history.
