MVP Outerbridge Keeps Up Pace

TAMPA, Fla. - W-League MVP Mallory Outerbridge continued her torrential 2011 season this week, collecting the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award. The Ottawa Fury forward and W-League Championship finalist is in her senior season at Western Kentucky University. Outerbridge became WKU’s all-time leading point scorer after netting four goals and an assist this past weekend in two matches.

Photo courtesy of WKUAfter setting the W-League ablaze in 2011, Outerbridge’s fine form is breaking records in another league too. Outerbridge is now two goals shy of WKU’s goal scoring record and she is also tied for first in points in the Sun Belt Conference.

Pali Blues striker and Florida State standout Tiffany McCarty collected ACC Player of the Week honors after banging in two goals against the rival Florida Gators. McCarty was also named to the Soccer America’s Women’s Team of the Week for her efforts.

Former Richmond Kickers Destiny and University of Richmond forward Rebecca Wann also made Soccer America’s Team of the Week for her two goal and one assist weekend against William & Mary and Liberty.

University of Texas striker Kylie Doniak grabbed Big XII Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring three goals and adding an assist in two wins this past weekend. Doniak last appeared for the L.A. Legends in the W-League.

2011 W-League Rookie of the Year Sydney Leroux was nominated for Pac-12 Player of the Week after notching her third game-winning goal of the season against SMU on Friday. Leroux added her fifth goal on Sunday in a 4-1 win against Fresno State.
