GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - F.C. New York’s standout rookie defender Kyle Hoffer, a 2011 USL PRO All-League selection, has joined Ekenäs IF based in Raseborg, Finland. USL PRO assist leader and Rookie of the Year finalist Tadeu Terra has landed with MyPa in Sippola, Finland.
EIF was founded in 1903 and is coached by Stefano Franciosa, an American and former assistant coach at Boston College. MyPa was founded in 1947 and in 2005 participated in the UEFA Cup.
“This is a great opportunity for Kyle and Tadeu to continue to play at a very competitive level,” F.C. New York Director of Soccer Carlo Acquista said.
Hoffer was one of only three players to play every minute of every regular season game this season in USL PRO, joining the Harrisburg City Islanders' Anthony Calvano and Charlotte Eagles' Eric Reed in that distinction. A former standout at St. John's University, Hoffer had two goals and an assist in his first professional season, his first professional goal coming against USL PRO Championship Finalist the Harrisburg City Islanders on May 7 in a 1-1 draw.
Also a former St. John's standout, Terra had a brilliant rookie season for F.C. New York. The young Brazilian recorded eight assists to lead the league to follow up his success with the Long Island Rough Riders of the USL PDL, for whom he had previously played three seasons while at St. John's.
