F.C. New York News Release -- www.fcnewyorksoccer.com

Thursday, September 9, 2011

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- F.C. New York is pleased to announce that former player and interim coach Paul Shaw has been given the head coaching position for the USL PRO club, effective September 28.

“Taking over when Paul did was difficult, especially since he was a player on the team as well as assistant coach,” F.C. New York President Doug Petersen said. “Paul impressed upon us how much he wanted the position and he has worked very hard with members of the area soccer community to be out watching matches or leading clinics.”

Together with Director of Soccer Carlo Acquista, Shaw has spent the past few weeks doing player evaluations and renewing or releasing players prior to the league deadline.

“I am eager to get going and improve our performance for our second year,” Shaw said.

F.C. New York finished its inaugural season at 6-11-7, just two points short of the final USL PRO National Division playoff spot. Season tickets for 2012 are now on sale. For information, please call 866-827-0154.
