DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Dutch Lions (1-12-6) will face the Harrisburg City Islanders (8-5-6) for the third time this season on Wednesday at the Miami Valley South Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The previous two games were held in Harrisburg.
The Dutch Lions pulled off the sixth tie of the season last Saturday against the Charleston Battery, who currently sit in fourth position in the American Division. The side is now looking to reverse its fortunes against the City Islanders, who took a 4-1 victory and a 2-2 tie in their previous meetings. Harrisburg currently sits in second position in the National Division, three points behind division leader the Rochester Rhinos, after a 1-1 draw with the Los Angeles Blues on Saturday night.
The game against Charleston didn’t end the way Dayton hoped, with two claims for fouls in the penalty area being denied by the referee. This got coaches Ivar van Dinteren and cor van Hoeven furious and they were sent of together along with Charleston head coach Mike Anhaeuser.
The Dutch Lions hope that this upcoming game against Harrisburg will produce their second victory of the season.
“They guys have proved over and over that they are capable of winning, so we are ready to win this Wednesday,” van Dinteren said.
