USL News Release

Thursday, July 21, 2011

TAMPA, Fla. – The Rochester Rhinos will have plenty of incentive when they host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the USL PRO Game of the Week live on FOX Soccer at 8 p.m. ET Friday. The Rhinos, currently sitting atop the National Division, can become the first team to clinch a USL PRO playoff spot with a victory against their division rivals.

The Riverhounds (6-9-5) have plenty of motivation of their own as they head to Sahlen’s Stadium. They currently sit in the fourth and final National Division playoff spot and are in need of points to try to distance themselves from fifth-place F.C. New York. After a slow start to the season, Pittsburgh is undefeated in its past six matches.

As always, Pittsburgh will be led by goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap, the 2010 USL Second Division Goalkeeper of the Year who ranks second in the league in shutouts with eight. Offensively the striker pairing of Jeremy Deighton and Jason Yeisley, who each scored in Pittsburgh’s 3-1 victory against Dayton on Wednesday, will lead the Riverhounds.

Winning at Sahlen’s Stadium has been nearly impossible for the opposition this year, with Rochester enjoying a 6-1-2 home record while conceding only four goals in nine matches. The Rhinos are looking to bounce back after losing two of their past three – both against league-leading Orlando City.

Rochester tends to spread out its scoring amongst several players, with strikers Kendall Jagdeosingh (4 goals, 1 assist) and Andrew Hoxie (3 goals, 2 assists) leading the attack. Midfielders Tony Donatelli (3 goals, 1 assist) and Felix Motagalvan (2 goals, 1 assist) pull the strings in the midfield for the Rhinos.

Longtime USL broadcaster Kenn Tomasch and former Georgetown University coach Keith Tabatznik will call the action from Rochester.

The USL PRO Game of the Week will return on Friday, August 5 when the Wilmington Hammerheads travel to face the Los Angeles Blues. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

USL’s broadcast package with FOX Soccer in 2011 includes a total of 15 live game broadcasts – 10 USL PRO regular season games as well as a USL PRO quarterfinal and semifinal, the USL PRO championship game and the championship games for the Premier Development League and W-League.

The USL PRO Game of the Week is produced by Cultural Global Media Inc.
