PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are looking to gain added security to their playoff position in the USL PRO National Division. Currently, the Riverhounds sit two points ahead of F.C. New York for fourth place in the National Division, with the top four teams advancing into the playoffs. On Wednesday, the Riverhounds will host the Dayton Dutch Lions for a massive game at Chartiers Valley Stadium.
The first ever meeting between the Riverhounds and Dutch Lions came in early June at Miami Valley South Stadium. The Dutch Lions battled back from a one-goal deficit to earn their first and only win as a professional club, by recording two goals in the last 20 minutes. Since their win, the Dutch Lions have been on the road for the last six weeks and are looking to gain some momentum heading back to Dayton.
The Riverhounds are on a five-game unbeaten streak and will need to maintain that level of form for the rest of the season. With playoff implications revolving around each of their remaining five games, the Riverhounds will need to focus on taking one game at a time, starting with Dayton.
This Wednesday’s game should be an intense, playoff-like environment between the two clubs. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
Tickets can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds Office, or at the ticket booths on game day.
