QUEENS, N.Y. - F.C. New York faces the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday at 3 p.m. in a key battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the USL PRO National Division.
New York finds itself with 17 points (4-8-5) after falling to Rochester and Pittsburgh last weekend and will hope to rebound as it makes its playoff push. A victory will leapfrog the visitors in the standings, as the Riverhounds (5-9-4) are tied for third place in the division with Los Angeles on 19 points.
“This is an important game for us,” interim coach Paul Shaw said. “We need to bounce back and play positively and hope for a good result.”
The home team will be looking to snap out of a three-game slump and regain its energy and conviction. The weekend saw New York score only two goals, one of them by defender Kyle Hoffer, the center back’s second of the year in what is becoming a stellar debut campaign.
F.C. New York’s next home game is Friday, July 29 against the Wilmington Hammerheads at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $12 with group rates available, while students get in for only $5 with a valid ID. For purchasing and information please call 866-827-0154 or email tickets@fcnewyorksoccer.com.
