FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno Fuego's remarkable season continued after another convincing win against the L.A. Blues on Thursday night. Playmaker and PDL Player of the Week Milton Blanco opened the score early in the first half with one of his trademark free kicks and second-half substitute Cyprian Hedrick secured the 2-1 win after a perfect combination with Tyler Reinhart in front of 4,358 fans.
Defender Nathan Smith, a member of the U.S. U17 National Team that has just returned from the U-17 World Cup earlier this month in Mexico, made his debut for the Fuego as a substitute for Emmanuel Ochoa in the 80th minute. Smith, only 16 years old, is the youngest player to suit up for the Fuego in an official match.
The Fuego final regular season home game will be this Saturday against the third-placed Southern California Seahorses. With three games remaining in the regular season, the Fuego only need a tie to secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2008.
The Fuego and EYE-Q will offer a free soccer camp, right before the game against the Seahorses, at 4:30 p.m. This camp is open to boys and girls of all age groups and participants just need to bring their own soccer balls.
In collaboration with Univision Radio, the Fuego is offering free game passes the entire season. Fans just need to call Univision Radio at (559) 430-8500 or become a Facebook friend of the Fuego and print their own game pass off the team’s page.
