CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles look to make up for their past performance against the Harrisburg City Islanders as they host the USL PRO National Division side on Friday night at Charlotte Christian Stadium at 8 p.m. Friday night's game is sponsored by Carolinas Medical Center.
Just two weeks ago the Eagles traveled up to Skyline Sports Complex and ran into a brick wall. With the Eagles in the midst of a seven-game undefeated streak, they were stopped dead in their tracks by Harrisburg losing the game 4-0. The Eagles were able to rebound against F.C. New York, and had a good showing against Richmond, splitting a pair of games last weekend.
"The Eagles plan to perform much better in the rematch this Friday night," said Coach Mark Steffens. "The team is just above .500, each game moving forward affects our playoff position. We are in a position where we need to win. The team continues to exude confidence in their ability to reach the playoffs, while understanding the road ahead will not be easy."
Harrisburg currently controls second position in the National Division and has been undefeated in USL PRO play since June 11. The City Islanders have scored eight times in their last three games. Jose Angulo and Andrew Welker lead the team with 11 goals between them for the season. The Eagles defense will need to be in top form if they plan on coming away with three points on Friday night.
The Charlotte Eagles are proud to partner with Carolinas Medical Center. Friday's game is also the last doubleheader of the regular season with the W-League's Lady Eagles facing the Virginia Beach Piranhas at 5:30 p.m. Carolinas Medical Center will make it a great night with lots of giveaways, special promotions and Game Day Activities.
