PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will host F.C. New York this Saturday at Chartiers Valley Stadium for a critical USL PRO contest. The Riverhounds currently sit just one point behind F.C. New York for fourth place in the National Division with the top four teams advancing into the postseason.
The two clubs will square-off against each other twice in the next eight days to wrap up the three-game season series. In the first-ever meeting between the two sides, the Riverhounds earned a 2-0 win. Since then, both teams have put together some impressive wins and are focused on earning a playoff berth.
Over the last two weeks, the Riverhounds have put together their first winning streak of the 2011 season. During this streak, the defense has held strong and has not allowed a goal in their last three games. Feeding off its defensive prowess, the Riverhounds have recorded goals from four different players during those games, to earn two wins and a draw.
New York’s Head Coach Paul Shaw made his professional coaching debut in the first meeting between the two clubs in late May. Since his debut, Shaw has led his team to a 3-2-3 record and brought New York within striking distance for a playoff berth.
The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Chartiers Valley Stadium. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds Office, or at the ticket booths on game-day.
