ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua Barracuda FC tackle USL PRO league leaders Orlando City at the Sticky Wicket Stadium in a highly anticipated doubleheader on Friday 24th and Sunday 26th June. The game on Friday will begin at 8 p.m., while Sundays’ clash has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
When both teams last met, the 'Cudas broke the unbeaten streak of Orlando in a contest that can best be best described as the toughest of the season, with a robust and energetic display by Barracuda FC, resulting in a number of cautions, ejections and subsequent suspensions for both teams.
Manager Fernando Abraham in a candid assessment of the game in Orlando said, “The game was a tough examination of our level of play right to the final whistle, but we showed our true grit to hold on for that important victory. They threw everything at us and we prevailed.
“As an organisation, we fully understand and accept our responsibility to fair play in the game and we will continue to strive for best practices in this regard, but rest assured, we will be ready for this doubleheader and will be putting on a good show for our fans; they deserve it.”
The results of these matches are likely to set the tone for both teams as the important second half of the season commences with first place Orlando City meeting third place Antigua Barracuda FC in the USL PRO American Division.
“This is an important time to make our intentions clear,” said Tom Curtis, Head Coach of Barracuda FC. "Looking back at some of our home games, we deserved better but this really gives us another opportunity to make our fans happy. They really want to see us succeed, to make the country proud, and we will be doing our best to do just that. This team has responded well to every adversity thrown at us, these games will be no different and our best response will be to win.”
