TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues announced the USL PRO Team of the Week for Week 12 of the 2011 season today, honoring Rochester Rhinos forward Andrew Hoxie, pictured right, as Player of the Week after he had a goal and an assist to lead his side to a 3-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday night. The victory allowed the Rhinos to extend their lead at the top of the USL PRO National Division to four points from the Los Angeles Blues and Harrisburg City Islanders.
Hoxie assisted on fellow Team of the Week selection Rich Constanzo’s opening goal of the game in the eighth minute before firing home a stunning 35-yard drive in the 17th for his team-leading third goal of the season.
The Harrisburg City Islanders saw goalkeeper Chase Harrison named to the Team of the Week after he pulled off four great saves to help his side earn a 1-0 victory on the road against Richmond. He is joined by teammate Jason Hotchkin, who scored the game-winning goal for the City Islanders, while the Kickers’ Jamel Wallace was also honored after a strong performance in midfield in his first professional start.
The Charlotte Eagles extended their undefeated streak to seven games in all competitions with a 2-0 win against the Dayton Dutch Lions, and the creators of their first goal on Saturday were both named to the team as forward Darren Toby scored his third goal of the season from Eagles points-leader Cheyne Roberts’ assist.
Charleston was the other team to have a pair of players selected as the duo of defender Colin Falvey and midfielder Evan Taylor were picked. Falvey played a strong game at the back as the Battery earned their fourth shutout of the season and also played a key role in their winning goal as his pass released Taylor through the Dutch Lions defense before Taylor drew the goalkeeper and found Levi Coleman to finish into an empty net.
