The government of Antigua & Barbuda is fully behind the country’s lone professional football outfit, Antigua Barracuda FC, as they prepare for their debut in the United Soccer League (USL) on April 17 at Stanford Cricket Grounds located just west of Sticky Wicket Restaurant at Coolidge.
This is according to Chairman of the outfit and General Secretary of Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Gordon “Banks” Derrick, who said earlier this week they had made a presentation to Cabinet who is now on board with what the ‘cudas represent.
“The Antigua government is fully on board with the Antigua Barracuda Football Club,” Derrick said. “A presentation was made to Cabinet and they saw the importance of where we are going with this and how well it will work towards the development of the country; so we have been in direct contact with the Ministry of Tourism through the Tourism Authority and discussions are ongoing as we continue to finetune and make sure everything is in place; but the Tourism Authority, through the government of Antigua & Barbuda will be fully on board.”
