TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues today announced the USL Premier Development League Team of the Week for Week 7 of the season, honoring Orange County Blue Star midfielder Chandler Hoffman after his five goals in three games helped his side complete a perfect three-game road trip and move back into the playoff race in the Western Conference’s Southwest Division.
Hoffman opened the week with a hat trick in a 5-2 win against the LA Blues 23 and then added a goal apiece in Blue Star’s victories against the Ogden Outlaws and BYU Cougars.
The Thunder Bay Chill’s Brandon Swartzendruber also had a big week, scoring three goals in two games against the Des Moines Menace. He was joined in the Team of the Week’s attack by the Carolina Dynamo’s Robbie Lovejoy, who scored twice as his side rallied for a 3-2 victory on the road against the West Virginia Chaos, and New Orleans’ Patrick Mullins, who had both goals in the Jesters’ 2-1 win against the Mississippi Brilla.
Chivas El Paso’s Jorge Muniz was named as the Team of the Week’s goalkeeper, beating out strong competition as he saved two penalty kicks in the Patriots’ 1-0 victory against West Texas United, while a pair of midfielders who struck game-winning goals were also selected as Brandon Chagnard gave his side a 1-0 victory in Laredo and 16-year-old Nicolas Russo scored the only goal in the Central Florida Kraze’s 1-0 win against FC Jax.
