ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City Soccer Club is proud to announce the signing of midfielder Luke Boden to a two-year contract, pending United States Soccer Federation approval.
“We’re delighted that Luke has signed with us,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “We believe he still has a lot of potential. He had a great upbringing at Sheffield Wednesday. He was looking for a fresh start here in the U.S., and we’re happy to provide him with the opportunity.”
Boden began his career with English side Sheffield Wednesday when he was just 18 years old. He has also spent time on loan with several clubs including Chesterfield and Northampton Town. In all, he has made 27 appearances in the Football League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
“Luke has a lot of upside,” said Heath. “I believe he’ll mature and develop here with Orlando City and become a major player in US soccer.”
The 22-year-old midfielder saw his first action with Orlando City in the inaugural match, a 1-0 victory over Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union. Boden started the match and played 73 minutes, leaving with the match well in hand for Orlando City.
