TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues announced the USL PRO Team of the Week for Week 11 of the 2011 season today, honoring Charlotte Eagles defender Cheyne Roberts as Player of the Week after he scored twice to help his side earn a 3-0 victory against the Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday night. The victory allowed the Eagles to extend their undefeated streak to five games as they try to work their way back into the USL PRO American Division playoff race.
Roberts scored twice in the first half, pushing up from his right back position to join the attack. He now leads the Eagles with three goals, and is joined on the Team of the Week by the club’s leading points-scorer, Jorge Herrera, who had a pair of assists in the victory.
The Richmond Kickers have goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale and forward Matt Delicâte named to the team of the week after they helped the Kickers end their four-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory against F.C. New York on Sunday. The Harrisburg City Islanders also had a pair of players selected after midfielder Brian Ombiji and forward Jose Angulo each scored twice in a 4-1 midweek victory against the Dayton Dutch Lions.
The Rochester Rhinos also had a pair of players named, with Troy Roberts masterful marshalling of the Rhinos defense helping lead the side to a 1-0 victory against the City Islanders in Saturday night’s USL PRO Game of the Week on FOX Soccer. Forward Kendall Jagdeosingh was also named after his second-half goal gave the Rhinos victory, moving them into top spot in the National Division.
