TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues announced the USL PRO Team of the Week for Week 10 of the 2011 season today, honoring Dayton Dutch Lions forward George Davis IV as Player of the Week after he scored twice to lift his side to a 2-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday night. The victory was the club’s first in the professional ranks after moving into USL PRO this season from the Premier Development League.
Davis was a member of the PDL side last season and made the move up with the club. With the Dutch Lions trailing the Riverhounds in the second half on Saturday, Davis scored twice in five minutes, the second coming with 10 minutes to go, to earn victory.
Davis is joined on the Team of the Week by teammate Joel DeLass, who played an influential role in the victory in the Dutch Lions’ midfield.
Also named to the Team of the Week are the Harrisburg City Islanders duo of defender Anthony Calvano and forward Sainey Touray, both of whom played important roles as the City Islanders took a pair of victories. Touray scored in both games, including an 89th minute game-winner against the Charleston Battery on Saturday.
A pair of players who scored twice are also named to the team, with Orlando City’s Jamie Watson being honored after his two goals in the Lions’ 4-2 victory against the Wilmington Hammerheads. He is joined by Rochester’s Andrew Hoxie, who scored both goals as the Rhinos earned a 2-1 victory against Antigua on Friday night, while Hoxie’s teammate Neal Kitson earned the nod in goal after scoring the first goal by a goalkeeper in Rhinos history to earn his side a 2-2 tie with the Barracuda on Sunday night.
