Dayton Dutch Lions News Release -- www.dutchlionsfc.com

Friday, June 3, 2011

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are set to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Miami Valley South Stadium. Currently coming off back-to-back draws in USL PRO, the Lions continue to search for their first win of their seven-game home stand. The match will be broadcast live at USLlive.com.

“We need a result this week,” said Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren. “Winning this match will push us forward if we have any hope to contend in the USL PRO. Another tie or a loss will not be good enough, we need to start earning points. Playing good soccer needs to start translating into wins.”

The Dutch Lions PRO team went down a goal early last Saturday against the Charlotte Eagles in the 10th minute, a free kick lofted into the box brought down by forward Sallieu Bundu the Eagles on the board. But midway through the second half, Dutch native and returning midfielder Julius Willie equalized, putting away a penalty kick that was awarded to the Dutch Lions for a foul in the penalty area. The Dutch Lions are now 0-4-2 and sit below Pittsburgh in the National Division standings.

The Riverhounds are coming off a 4-2 loss against Harrisburg on Tuesday night. After going down a man and a goal in the 4th minute from a straight red card for a handball in the box, the Riverhounds were unable to recover. Fighting desparetely to tie the game in the second half after rallying back from a three-goal deficit to make the score 3-2 through Jason Yeisley, the City Islanders solidified their win as Sainey Touray scored through a fierce shot with only a minute remaining.
