WATERLOO, Ont.
- For the first time in franchise history, K-W United FC will field a playoff team when the W-League squad takes the pitch tonight against the Laval Comets at Alumni Field. K-W finished the regular season with a 6-3-3 record, earning the No.2 seed in the Central Conference.

As a result, K-W hosts the Central Conference semifinal game, with the winner heading to Ottawa to take on the No. 1 Fury on Saturday. A home game will be to the advantage of K-W, which will have a solid crowd behind it in a smaller venue than usual. United has moved to Alumni Field for the event, with free admission for the match.

In face-to-face matches this season, Laval and K-W are tied with a win apiece. At the end of June K-W defeated the Comets 1-0 at University Stadium before dropping their final game of the regular season 3-0 in Laval.

K-W has relied heavily on its defensive core of Kelsey Tikka, Kelly Cook, Elysia Masters, Kira Bertrand and Lia Foster this season and will turn to them again to keep its championship hopes alive. Leading scorer Leticia Skeete will be one to watch going forward. Skeete has scored four goals and recorded two assists in 12 games and registered a total of 22 shots. Emily Brown and Nicole Lyon also shape the forwards, with three goals each, while Lyon also recorded two assists.

The game will mark several firsts for the club, as this is the first W-League playoff game in franchise history, first playoff game (men's or women's) for the club in franchise history.
