CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC have a chance to take first place in the PDL's South Atlantic Division when they host the West Virginia Chaos on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET at Xavier University Soccer Complex in Cincinnati. The Lions are still without a loss in their inaugural 2014 season.
The Dutch Lions (4-0-3) currently sit two points behind West Virginia (5-3-2) in the division standings, but have played three fewer games. Cincinnati took victory in the first meeting between the two teams on May 30 as Jeff McClure scored a pair of goals. A win on Friday night would put the Dutch Lions firmly in control of the division as they begin a busy second half of the season.
“It is very important we get back up to speed after a weekend off," Dutch Lions coach Terry Nicholl said. "We won our last two games 2-0 showing good defensive integrity, and better possession and finishing. Our goalkeeper has been excellent all season, and I expect him to regain the form he was showing. We played a 4-4-2 (which is defensively strong and organized) but encouraging our wingers to get forward and turn it into a more offensive 4-2-4. We are looking forward to catching up some of the games in hand and hopefully reach for the top of the table the coming weeks.”
“Over the past weeks we had some good practices," Captain Rowin van Zaanen added. "We are well prepared to be the leader in the competition. We work very hard and winning games gives us a lot of confidence. In the last games we have shown that we have a good team.
"The match against West Virginia Chaos is a tough and an important match because we can be the leader of the competition.”
After the game the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC stay home to play SC United Bantams already on Sunday June 29 at 7:00pm. You can order tickets for both games at www.cdlfc.com.
