PEORIA, Ariz. – Arizona United Soccer Club is set to host Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy in the Fourth Round of the 101st edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. PT at the Peoria Sports Complex.
The match will be televised statewide in Arizona and will be streamed live on YouTube. Coverage will begin at 7 p.m. with a pregame show hosted by Barry Buetel. Kenn Tomasch and Allen Hopkins will have the call in the booth.
Arizona United became the first team from Arizona in the modern era (1996 to the present) to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup, defeating the PDL’s Portland Timbers U-23s, 3-2, on May 13 in the Second Round and fellow USL PRO side Oklahoma City Energy FC, 2-1 in overtime, on May 28 in the Third Round.
Forward Kadeem Dacres and midfielder Jon Okafor lead Arizona United SC in U.S. Open Cup play with three points each (1 goal, 1 assist).
If United defeats the Galaxy, it will travel to North Carolina for a Fifth Round matchup against Carolina Railhawks on June 24.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, recognized as the U.S. Soccer Federation’s national club championship, is an annual knockout tournament open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 100 consecutive years dating to 1914.
