LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LA Blues (5-0-0) will host the Bay Area Breeze (3-0-1) on Wednesday night in a battle between the top two teams in the W-League's Western Conference. The Blues are coming off a dominant 6-0 victory against the Colorado Storm while the Breeze defeated the Santa Clarita Blue Heat 2-0 on Sunday.
On Sunday, Blues midfielder Paige Nielsen opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the game before extending the lead to 2-0 in the 21st. Nine minutes later forward Kandace Love scored twice in two minutes, and Brooke Elby ended that half with a goal of her own to make it 5-0.
In the second half, the Blues were able to score once more off the foot of Lauren Lazo in the 65th minute. The Blues improved to five consecutive wins with zero goals allowed this season. They also lead the W-League with 27 goals scored while limiting opponents to 11 shots on goal.
The Breeze kicked off their two-game road trip to Southern California with a victory against the Blue Heat on Sunday night. Samantha Brand scored the first goal in the 26th minute and Anisa Guajardo, who led the Pali Blues in points in 2011, secured the win in the 90th minute of the game.
