DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Dutch Lions (2-2-0) will face the Atlanta Silverbacks (0-4-0) on Friday and the Gulf Coast Texans (1-1-0) on Saturday looking to continue their two-game W-League winning streak.
The Lions got off to a poor start, losing their first two games against strong Carolina Elite Cobras and Charlotte Lady Eagles squads, but bounced back with solid wins against Charlotte (1-0) and Atlanta (6-2). Midfielder Rose Lavelle tallied a total of five goals and two assist in the games, earning W-League Player of the Week honors.
"Coming off the back of two good team performances, we travel down to Atlanta and Pensacola this weekend anticipating a couple of very difficult games," Head Coach Gavin McLeod said. "The Silverbacks will be ready for the opportunity to kick-start their season at home and won't lack motivation after our last meeting.
"The Gulf Coast Texans have assembled a very talented squad and I expect them to be in the playoff hunt come July, so we will need to be prepared for the challenge that they will present. After putting ourselves back into a strong position within our conference, we are looking to carry our form into this road trip and hope to come back to Dayton with two positive results."
The Dutch Lions will stay on the road to face the Charlotte Lady Eagles on Friday. June 13.
