PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2-4-2) square off with the Wilmington Hammerheads (4-1-0) on Saturday night at Chartiers Valley Stadium. The game will wrap up the Riverhounds’ three-game home stand, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
First Meeting
The Riverhounds traveled to Wilmington in late April for a game against the Hammerheads at Legion Stadium. The early season meeting between the two clubs was an intense battle in the middle third of the field. The Hammerheads broke the score open in the 56th minute of play off a goal from Andriy Budnyy, but conceded the equalizer to Jeremy Deighton in the 77th minute. Wilmington’s Paul Nicholson would convert the game-winner in the 83rd minute and Alex Grendi added an insurance goal in stoppage time to give the Hammerheads a 3-1 win.
Game Preview
The Riverhounds have played four games at Chartiers Valley Stadium this season and have recorded three shutouts in those games. The defensive prowess from the home team is common in the USL PRO and should be no different this weekend.
The Riverhounds will catch the Hammerheads on the back end of a two-game road trip. Understanding that the Hammerheads may have tired legs after a game against the Rochester Rhinos on Friday night, the Riverhounds will look to pressure the visiting side all over the field from the opening whistle.
Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling in to the Riverhounds Office at 412.539.1191 or at the ticket gates on game day. Youth General Admission costs $6, while Adult General Admission is $9.
