TACOMA, Wash. – The Sounders U-23 have signed one of the brightest Sounders Academy stars, Jordan Morris, for the 2014 Premier Development League season. Morris is currently a sophomore at the University of Stanford and holds caps for the United States U-20 and U-21 National Teams.

Morris, a sophomore at Stanford, burst on to the national soccer awareness after scoring 27 goals in 28 matches for the Sounders Academy and being named the U-17/18 US Soccer Development Academy Player of the Year in 2013.

“Jordan Morris is an exciting young player and he seems to excel at every level he gets the opportunity to play at," Sounders U-23 GM and Head Coach, Darren Sawatzky said. "The U-23 team is a great place for him to continue his rise in the game during the summer months.”

Morris went on to make First Team All-Pac 12 as a freshman and earn call-ups to the United States U-20 and last week, U-21 National Team. His ability, technique, and vision, mixed with his 5’11, 185 pound frame, make Morris a truly unique prospect with professional soccer on his horizon.

“The competitive games in the Northwest Division of the PDL has helped many players in their journey to become professional players and it will be the same for Jordan,” Sawatzky said.

The Seattle native scored six goals last fall for Stanford and led all freshmen in the Pac-12 with seven assists. Morris will join the Sounders U-23 following the spring semester at Stanford.

The Sounders U-23 will host their first preseason game against Western Washington at 7p.m. on May 5 at Sunset Stadium.

Season Tickets for the 2014 Sounders U-23 season are on sale on SoundersU23.com for only $60. The 2014 Season Ticket Flex Pack eliminates the risk of missing games. Instead of one ticket specifically associated with each match, with the Sounders U-23 Flex Pack, fans will receive eight tickets, and each of those tickets will be accepted at any match during the 2014 season. It's the ultimate deal in flexibility.
