TUCSON, Ariz. -- Today, FC Tucson continued building its 2014 roster by signing three players who played with the team during MLS Preseason: Andres Acosta, Dan Antoniuk and Martino Rapella. The club now has ten players signed to the roster for the 2014 season.
"Andres, Dan, and Martino performed tremendously with FC Tucson against MLS teams this winter at the Desert Diamond Cup," said FC Tucson General Manager Jon Pearlman. "We are excited to have players with both professional experience, as well as experience with FC Tucson in our playing environment. The entire staff feels they will have a large and positive impact on the field this summer."
Acosta and Antoniuk most recently played professionally for Major Indoor Soccer League side the St. Louis Ambush. Acosta appeared in six matches for the Ambush as a midfielder in the 2013-14 season. Antoniuk played in 17 matches as a forward and tallied seven goals and seven assists this past season. The duo dressed for FC Tucson during MLS Preseason with Antoniuk scoring a goal against Real Salt Lake in a 3-1 loss to the club during the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup.
Rapella made the squad through an open tryout in January. During MLS Preseason, he scored a goal against Chivas USA in a 1-1 draw with the MLS side. The midfielder comes to Tucson from Italy, where he previously played in the lower professional levels of Italian soccer with Calcio Lecco 1912. He came to Tucson about a year ago and played in the Tucson Metro Soccer League before trying out for FC Tucson.
