TACOMA, Wash. – Following a year of professional soccer with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Jamael Cox has signed for the Sounders U-23 for the 2014 PDL campaign. Cox is a Tacoma, Wash. native who played on the 2012 Western Conference Champion, Sounders U-23 side.
“Development is a winding road, not a straight line when it comes to players,” Sounders U-23 Head Coach, Darren Sawatzky said. “Jamael has had success at many levels and this summer should give him the platform to hunt the next level again.”
In his last stint with the Sounders U-23, Cox was an instrumental member of the attack, scoring important game winning goals against rivals, Portland Timbers FC U-23. He also scored in the Western Conference Championship game against Ventura County Fusion.
