HOUSTON -- Former Houston Dutch Lions FC goalkeeper Christopher Sheridan (Super 20’s in 2012 and PDL in 2013) has signed a professional contract with Platense in Honduras, making him the third former Houston Dutch Lions player to turn professional this offseason. Sheridan joins former PDL players Thomas Verhaar and Walter Kromholz, who both recently signed contracts in Europe to take their careers to the next level.
Verhaar, recently signed a two-year contract with First Division Club Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Sparta Rotterdam is looking for a chance to earn promotion next season to the Dutch Eredivisie. Verhaar played last season with the Dutch Lions where he was a starter for the PDL Team (nine games; two goals and five assists).
The Houston Dutch Lions FC are proud to see how Verhaar has developed himself with the experience he gained playing for the club's PDL team, and are excited to see him make the big step to become a professional soccer player.
Kromholz, who was the captain of the 2013 PDL campaign, signed a one-year contract with the Finnish team of Kultsu FC.
In the 2013 PDL season Kromholz led the defense together with his Houston Baptist University teammate Kyle Herbison and started in 10 games. In 900 minutes wearing the Orange jersey, Kromholz scored twice.
Kultsu FC's opening game of the new season is set to be played on April 26th, stay up to date about team results and Kromholz's progress: http://www.kultsufc.com or www.houstondutchlionsfc.com/lions-in-the-pros.aspx.
