Springfield Adds Nomura To Squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --- Springfield Demize Head Coach Ian Henry has announced the signing of goalkeeper, Yuta Nomura. Nomura is a native of Tokyo, Japan, and currently plays for the Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.

As a freshman in 2011, Nomura was named Mid-South Conference (MSC) Defender of the Week six times and was named as an All-MSC First Team selection. He started in goal all 23 games, collected 62 saves (9th in Lindsey Wilson College history) and posted 14 shutouts (tie for 3rd in the college’s history). By the end of the 2013 season, he had collected a total of 152 saves and posted a total of 24 shutouts. In addition to the accolades mentioned previously, Nomura was part of the 2011 NAIA National Championship team, 2012 and 2013 NAIA National Tournament 3rd place teams, and MSC All-Conference Team from 2011-13.

“We are pleased to have a goalkeeper of his talents playing for the Demize and are looking forward to a great season with him in goal,” said Coach Henry. The Springfield Demize season opener is on May 17, 2014 at Cooper Complex, Springfield, MO, against the Des Moines Menace. Plan to attend and meet Nomura and the other Demize players.
