TAMPA, Fla. – The 2013 PDL champion Austin Aztex will host a free grassroots youth soccer clinic in conjunction with United Soccer Leagues and the National Guard.
Set for Saturday, May 3, the clinic will be held at the home of the Aztex, House Park, and will be free to all registered participants and designed to benefit boys and girls youth soccer players ages 15-18. The training sessions will be led by Aztex coaches and players, and are designed to introduce, sharpen, and challenge every player and take them to the next level of their development.
“One of our missions as an organization is to be a soccer resource in the community,” Aztex Director of Operations Ric Granryd said. “With the incredible support of the USL and the National Guard, this clinic will be conducted exclusively by Aztex coaches and players. We can offer additional training for the older youth age groups in Central Texas, plus provide families with great information about collegiate opportunities.”
Check-in for all registered participants will take place from 8-9 a.m. with a technical training session following a warm-up session. Following lunch and an informational session with National Guard representatives, players will be divided into teams for small- and full-sided games in the afternoon, with the event concluding at 4 p.m.
USL and the National Guard have teamed for the second consecutive year to offer a series of free development clinics for youth soccer players throughout the nation. The clinic curriculum focuses on individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games and coached scrimmages, all presented in a fun, positive learning environment.
Interested players of all skill levels can register for the free clinic by completing the online registration form located at http://www.formstack.com/forms/uslsoccer-aztex_clinic_registration. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
