LITTLETON, Colo. - The Colorado Rush Women are excited to welcome back three players from the U.S. 2012 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup team who have committed to play with the Rush for the 2014 W-League season. Lizzy Raben, Morgan Stanton and Gabbi Miranda will return to their youth club roots and will look to lead the Colorado Rush Women to their first Western Conference Championship in 2014.
Miranda, a freshman and recently crowned National Champion at UCLA, is excited to return to Colorado.
“It’s uncommon to be able to train and compete at such a high level when going home, and I get to do so with my good friends and with a world-class staff," she said. "The Rush will forever be my all-time favorite soccer environment, and being able to return to the club through W-League is something I’m so grateful for!”
Raben, who is attending Duke University, Stanton, a recent transfer to the University of Colorado in Boulder, and Miranda are all experienced veterans of the W-League despite only being in their second semester of college. Raben and Miranda will enter their fourth season of W-League play while Stanton enters her fifth and is one of only five players to play each season that the Colorado Rush Women have been in existence.
“It is unique to have such young players be deemed veterans but indeed they are. They have accrued more experience than the average 18-year-old by getting involved in the W-League at such an early stage,” Rush Head Coach Erik Bushey said. “I expect these three players in particular to play a great role in the success of this year’s team.”
Rush tryouts are slated for Sunday May 4. Visit www.coloradorushwomen.com for details.
