CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Eagles are excited to announce the signing of former Major League Soccer Pool-Goalkeeper, Doug Herrick.
Herrick is a native of Seattle, Washington and played collegiately at St. Mary's College in California. While with the Gaels, Herrick was an All-West Coast Conference selection three times. In 2012 Herrick led the Sounders FC U-23s to the Western Conference Championship en route to a PDL Final Four appearance. Herrick led the PDL with 11 wins and posted five shutouts in 14 games played.
As a member of the Guam National Team, Herrick has earned 12 international caps for the Matao. Herrick most recently was called up for the friendlies between Guam and Aruba on March 27th and March 30th.
"Our coaching staff is excited that Doug Herrick will be with us this season," said Eagles coach Mark Steffens. "He's had some excellent training with the Seattle Sounders at the MLS level. His leadership skills in communicating with and directing the back four is very good. Doug is a real athletic keeper without any noticeable weaknesses. He is a hard worker, consequently he will get better and better as the season progresses. I believe this will be a breakout season for Doug."
